Our internships give students the opportunity to integrate academic knowledge with practical real world experience. Additionally, the Internship Program creates a talent pool for potential entry-level positions.

DESCRIPTION

Duties & Responsibilities
Outline the major tasks that the intern will complete

  • The Corporate Communications Intern will support communications activities at Volkswagen in Chattanooga. During the course of the internship, the applicant will have the chance to become an integral member of the Communications team.
  • Copywriting for internal publications, traditional media and social media
  • Research and database development
  • Report on social metric such as engagement KPI’s
  • Update and track editorial and event calendars and tactical or administrative support in the development and execution of internal communications activities.
  • Candidate must be able to perform duties in a timely manner according to an established schedule and succeed in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Strong writing and interpersonal skills and an understanding of target audience is required.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience developing communication material including writing copy, presentation layout, electronic/print collateral, video production, etc.
  • Proficiency with Associate Press (AP) style and writing for journalistic media
  • GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Strong interest in corporate communications or public relations
  • Prior experience developing communication material for mass audiences
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite products a plus
  • Be self-motivated and willing to challenge yourself to develop your talents and skillsets
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

Candidates will be expected to be available to work during normal business hours (Monday – Friday; exact hours will vary by position and some positions might require work on Saturdays). To be eligible for the internship program, candidates are required to be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary educational institution, or have graduated from one within the 6 months prior to the start date of the internship. Candidates who do not meet this guideline will not be considered. This position will start on May 20th, 2019 and end on August 9th 2019 with an opportunity for extension through December 20th, 2019. Applications for later terms will not be accepted at this time.
