Whenever I meet someone, usually the topic of our careers will arise in the conversation.  When I state that I am a mathematician, I get various responses.  Some of those responses are of the vein, “Wow!  I love math!”  Others are more akin to the more dismal, “How can you do math all day?”

There are few subjects more integral to everyday life than math.  From balancing a checkbook to making investments; from determining how much material one needs to fix up one’s back yard, to planning a menu for a wedding – math plays a vital role in our lives.  It is my desire that each and every student I teach at Lee University will walk away from my class knowing two things.  First, math is very significant.  It is relevant and important to any individual’s life and to our community as a whole.  Secondly, I want my students to realize that math doesn’t have to be overwhelming.  With consistent work, one may learn the skills necessary in order to be a better mathematician.
